The symbols of London

I believe everybody knows the Tower- a former prison. But people go there also  to see the ravens that live there. There have been reavens in the tower for centuries. Charles II. (17 century) wanted to remove them  because they bothered his astronometer. However, there is a legend that when the ravens  leave the Tower, the kingdom will fall. So the ravens were left to live in peace. During World War II, most of the ravens died in the bomb attacks but now there are nine of them. Their wings are clipped so they can´t fly away. The kingdom is safe!

Black Cabs are London´s taxis. They have the reputatin of the best taxi  service in the world. Each driver must study first and then take a strick test-they must know London very well and have no criminal record.The taxis  can take 5 people plus baggage. Not all of them are black. In 2002, 50 golden cabs were made to celebrate the Queen´s  Golden Jubilee. Many celebrities use the Black Cabs. There are about 21 000 cabs in London.

Double-decker buses have two levels. You can ride them in London.These red buses are very famous.Many other cities and countries use dubble-deckers for sightseeing but only Britan has them for public transportation. some people think that you can see London only from the top of a double-decker bus.

Many tourists visit London´s traditional pubs. If you want some beer, a pie, or just warm by fire, go to one of the traditional pubs. You will find there a unique atmosphere and trip back in time. Many of them have historical interiors.
